Please re-read your post. I found it difficult to understand because of so many incorrect words.

  2. How to get straight A's study tips. I really enjoyed watching this video and the most thing that I liked about it is the sticky notes trick. I liked this idea and I'm thinking about putting sticky notes about the important things and stick it everywhere in my room. The other thing I liked about this video is listening to the teacher in class so students will understand everything in class and number one thing students do, using their phones in class which will distract them from listening and learning. And they're giving advices about asking questions in class, I never ask questions even if I am not getting anything.

    1. Hello Marten,
I love using sticky notes! I posts sticky notes everywhere in my house, books, wallet, and even in my baby bag. This is one thing that stuck with me from elementary until now. There is one thing that I also learned is to always ask questions, there are no bad questions.

    2. I also like sticky notes. I use them in my office to remind me of things I need to do. Once the task is done, I enjoy crumbling up the note and tossing it into the trash can.

  3. Comment on the video, Sleep to Remember, Remember to Sleep

In the video the narrator had emphasized the pivotal role that sleep plays in how are body functions. Sleep is a necessary function in relation to the retention of information. The video had discouraged the notion that staying up all night cramming for tests would help to retain and learn more information. The narrator encouraged getting a proper amount of sleep prior to an exam in order for the brain to better facilitate the move of short term information to the cortex of the brain where long term information is stored. The video also explained the different stages of sleep and how slow wave and REM each correspond to a different form of knowledge retention (declarative memory and procedural memory)

I will use some of these tips to improve my studying skills and to do better than now at school. And since I just got in to SDSU i will former need as much studying tips as i can possibly get to do as good as I possibly can. 5. I really enjoyed the video Sleep to Remember, Remember to Sleep. I found the information on sleep to be very useful to me, I am the type of person that never really sleeps so I find other ways to remember things. While I usually cram for a test, it is interesting that this is the time that I fall asleep. I know every student has heard from a teacher not to cram for the test but get a good night's sleep after studying over a longer period of time (short periods of time spread out over a long extent of time). The best way I have found to use sleep and studying is to listen to recordings of my lectures while I sleep.

    1. I find it interesting that we share lack of sleep in common and we chose the same video probably because of that! Its cool that you combine sleep and studying that sounds interesting.

    2. I am hoping that you use the ideas in this video to get more sleep. Studying a little over time is really the best and most enjoyable way to study. Reviewing right before sleep is valuable, but listening to recordings while sleeping is probably not a good idea. Studies have not shown that this works.

  6. The video I chose was "Remember to Sleep, Sleep to Remember" I found it interesting that staying awake to study instead of getting a goodnights sleep can affect you by not even remembering what you learned but being harmful to your health long term. I always knew how important sleep was but after watching this video I feel like I will improve my sleeping schedule since I always sleep super late. However I feel like a lot of students are not aware that staying up late night studying last minute will not be beneficial and will actually be a waste of time.

    1. Hello Ashley,
I agree with you about what you mention about sleeping, not getting enough sleep may kills some of our cells, especially study shows that not getting enough sleep will lead to early death, it just not good to not getting enough time to rest our brain, if our brain didn't get its time to rest, it wouldn't be able to continue and be able to remember what we are studying and doing well on the test It was really helpful and interesting video and a lot of us are now aware of not getting enough sleep and we should know what we must do to rest and stay away from the things that make us not able to sleep.

  7. I like the video of The Nine Best Scientific Study Skills to get high grades. The information that I found it useful for me are about how is it better for us to study twenty-30 minutes in one week instead of ten hours a day, and also how teaching something is match better to remember whatever we want than just making the test, and how useful to learn from our mistakes in the exam because that will help us to remember where did we make it and what was the information that we get. Our brain is not a machine, if we want him to remember something, we should use different ways for that, and the most important ways are what we studied in chapter 6 or from the videos because it gave us much information that we haven't known before.

    2. I like that video because it shows you ways you can better your grades and other study tips that was discuss in the chapter. The 30 min technique is very good I tried it and it work. Another way I try the thirty minute technique is to study a particular topic take a ten minutes break then test myself so see how much I understand and remember. The video summarize what we learnt in chapter 6 but as you can see it very good information we all can share with friends and family planning on going to college in the future.

  8. Hi everyone
I've selected the video sleep to remember, remember to sleep, and I found it was such a useful video. When I was in high school I was staying all the night studying, but right before 2 or 3 hours of the exam I take 1 hour sleep or 1 and a half, believe me at helped me so well to do good and remember what i studied... it was better than my first exam when i stayed all night studying and went to the exam without some sleep. you feel like your brain saved all the bullshit ion your brain. That's was my experience in my life. I enjoyed the video and I will sleep enough no matter what I have to study.

    1. Hi Waleed,
I agree with the way that you are thinking about "Sleep to Remember, Remember to Sleep". I found this video also very interesting and useful, and we are sharing the same idea about the study. if we stay studying all the night for the exam without sleep, we will forget all the information and we will feel tired. But if we take some rest and sleep well our brain will save all the information, and we will feel that we are ready for the exam. Everyone from us needs to sleep enough to wake up actively, and be ready to do everything.

    2. Hi Waleed,
We are sharing the same video about sleeping. I agree with you that If A human doesn't sleeps good a day, he gets tired all the day and he can't do anything well, so if he sleeps in the afternoon for 2 hours, after that his brain will be good and never gets tired any more. Also, sleeping is very important for students because they are studying hard all the time and they need enough time to sleep well like 8 or 9 hours at night. Also, we need to schedule our time between sleeping and studying to do well in anything that we want and when I watched this video, I will improve my sleeping schedule to be better in my life.

Also, I like your idea that when you take a rest after studying for a long time. human need to take a rest and break after working so hard because what I think that is we aren't machines that don't need to take a rest, we still human that have feelings. I like what you wrote up there, and I hope you all the success in your life

It was a great video and it has a lot of information, the information stuffed in the video is basically good. Never read/heard in this view. I know some other perspective. According to my knowledge we able to use our brain up to our maximum but the main constraints is we humans only. I would personally recommend sleeping for longer and more consistently, an improvement in your work performance could lead to promotions and more job security. 11. Hello everyone,
I choose this topic "Sleep to Remember, Remember to Sleep". In my daily life, I like to sleep like 8 hours a day. Also, when I was child, I like to sleep all day. When I saw this video, It remembered me about my childhood. When I grew up and began to study, I'm always sleeping for 2 hours before doing any homework and when I wake up, I feel that my mind is fresh and I can assimilation any information that I want to study and do it very good. Also, sleeping is a great for a human who works or studies because after work or study, he or she get tired and sleeping is a good solution to remove that fatigue. Also, if a human sleeps for a long time like 9 or 10 hours, when he wake up, he get tired because his body didn't movement for a long time, so sleeping for 7 or 8 hours is good for a human. I found this video is amazing and useful for a human that he can manage his time between sleeping and working or studying and it is very good for a human who needs organize his life.

    1. Hi Sandy
I like your topic about sleeping and I agree with you. People should sleep well enough; if they don’t sleep they will get tired and not focus on what they are doing at school or at their work. Everyone should sleep and remember to sleep because sleeping will help their brain to relax and collect the information together and make them remember what they studied. But if they keep studying the whole night for the exam without sleeping well, they will forget all the information and they will feel tired and not focusing on the exam.

    1. Hi Anwar,
I watched both videos, and I also found this video very helpful. In my opinion, the best tip the video provided was to break up study sessions into many 30 minute sessions over a time period of a few weeks instead of trying to study all day and all at once. Using this study method will not only prevent you from procrastinating, but also it will lock in information in our brains much more effectively.

I like that video too and I can relate myself with those techniques becuase I've been using those for years. I think the hardest habit is to eliminate distractions like smarthphones and background noise like radio or T.V. Eliminating those factors will improve drastically your study skills like focusing on the subject and learning gradually. I speak from experience.

  13. Hello,
Sleep to Remember, Remember to Sleep. I chose this video, and I enjoyed watching it. This video tells that must each and every one of us needs to sleep after the study because the brain can not do its job, any recovery of his information, which stored, only after taking a rest. For me I am trying to be regular times of my sleep as I try my best in all that teaming between my house and my family and finish my homework early so as not to stay up late at night because the study late does not give a good result. It is imperative that we give our body enough rest to regain its activity and functioning regularly and healthy.

    1. Hi Muntaha,
I like your topic about sleeping and I agree with you. Everyone should sleep and remember to sleep because sleeping will help the brain to relax and collect the information together and make us remember what did we study. When I was in high school, I was pushing myself to study a lot and I didn't make time for me to sleep, and if I sleep, I will sleep only 30 minutes a day because I thought if I sleep, I will forget everything. I let my mind work us a machine, but now, I discovered how important to sleep and how important to spread my studying time and give my brain his time to relax or I will forget everything and I will go back to the beginning.

    2. I agree with both of your statements Muntaha and Ban. The video really opened my eyes on why exactly it is essential for our minds health to get enough sleep each night and balance itself out again. I think the book used a good metaphor when it described the mind as a file folder that needs to be sorted and organized. In order to sort and organize all the information we learn throughout the day the mind and body needs sleep to do this. I too am trying to find a regular sleep schedule and prioritize my time accordingly as silly as that sounds.

  14. Hello,
I chose to watch the video Sleep to Remember, Remember to Sleep. This video informs us how important getting a good nights rest is. In fact, getting the right amount of hours of sleep per night will improve academic performance. Many students will chose to stay up the entire night before an exam to help cram all the information they can, but doing that will actually lesson your chances of receiving a higher grade. Our bodies require sleep and perform better when our brain has rested. The video mentioned that each person normally forgets about 40% of new material within 20 minutes. A process called memory consolidation is needed to move the information learned from our short-term memory to our long-term memory. One of the major factors that contribute to memory consolidation is a good night sleep. Giving our body the rest it needs will help our physical health and mental health as well.

I choose to watch the video How To Get Straight A's! Study Tips

I really enjoyed watching this video. The tips were so helpful for me. The first tip helped me a lot which was writing sticky notes and putting them in places so I can memorize them. I like this idea and I will start writing the important things that want to be memorize it and sticky them in my room. The another thing I like was listening to the teacher and not use cell phone or talk to other student during the class. I never use cell phones in class and I pay attention to the teacher all the time because when the teacher asked me something I know how to answer because I was listening. Studying at night before test was a useful idea for me to remember the test next day and get a good grade. I also learned to not read other books or watch movies in the night before the test because the information will all disappear.

    1. Hi! I did not watch the same video as you so I'm glad i read your comment. I often find it hard for myself to not be on my phone during a lecture especially if I already have some insight on the subject. But it is really easy to miss out on key points or ideas when doing that, maybe at the beginning of class I will give one of my friends in class my phone so I am not tempted to use it. I also used to think that it wasn’t a good idea to study the night right before a test so I watched television instead, but now I know to do exactly the opposite.

Make sure you do whatever you can to not be on your phone while your teacher is talking because you are right, you can miss out on key points, ideas and you cannot text and listen at the same time. The fact that you are thinking about giving your phone to someone else to resist the temptation is excellent. The more you listen, the better you will remember everything without having to study much when it comes to test time. I know it is difficult to stay engaged in lectures the whole time you're in class, but you can definitely do it.

  16. Hello,
I chose the video sleep to remember, remember to sleep.
The video was very helpful because it stated how important sleeping is and what can it do to our brain. without sleeping, human can't focus and what he is doing, even his eyes will get tired if he does something simple, so If he gets enough sleep, he will be able to be more creative and more able to do things. Sleeping is like eating, when we eat, that's mean we are giving power to our stomach to work better and stay alive and the same with sleeping, we are giving our brain the time to rest and be able to remember the things and what it needs to be focused on.

  17. I watched “Study Hacks! Get Better Grades 2015”, and frankly I really liked the hacks that the girl mentioned. My favorite hack that she mentioned was writing all of your work/ or errands on many strips of paper and putting them in a cup, that way when you pick one you know which one to start with. I think this would help a lot because I often procrastinate since I don’t know which project to start on first, so this would be a quick and easy way to decide. I don’t know if I would be able to do the one where you teach someone the subject, what I like to do instead of that is choose a specific topic and write on a sheet of paper as much as I know about the subject and then in another color pen add what you forgot to write to make sure you know what to study.

Most people do homework just for the points, but I also use it to study for my tests. These tips are the most helpful for my tests.

  19. The video that I watched was “The Nine Best Scientific Study Skills”, I like how they added small short sessions. It makes a lot of sense to study in short bursts. Whenever I study for too long in one session, I often times forget things because I tend to not be as engage when studying for a long time. They made reference to music lessons and other activities as such are usually only for 30 minutes to an hour, I agree with his logic.

This chapter was very helpful and interesting to me. Understanding, learning, memorizing and studying are all things that are essential to every college student. I like that this chapter introduced me to new concepts of studying and memorizing. We all have different styles of studying. For me, repetition and rehearsal works great for me. Repetition and rehearsal is a very important technique to use when studying because it helps to transfer information from your short term memory to your long term memory. With this technique, I write my notes then rewrite them and rewrite them again until I feel comfortable with the information. This works great for me and it is the only type of studying technique that helps me to do well on quizzes, test, exams etc. I also loved that thinking positively was included in this chapter. In my opinion, thinking positive is effective and necessary in all aspects of life and studying is no exception.

And of course the phone tip is very important, I think now it is now very easy to get distracted using the phone. phones really decrease the amount of studying and how focused someone is. The tips the little girl gave in the video was writing reminders on sticky notes, making up little codes of your own for memorization, never procrastinate and study the night before exams. There is not one thing I do not do in this video. I write on sticky notes or in a planner and I use little codes to help me memorize things. For example, I would take the first letters of a certain phrase I have to memorize and I would replace it with my own words instead. I always study the night before because I know I will remember it more in the morning and I never procrastinate. These tips really have helped me succeed in getting good grades and I definitely recommend everyone trying all of these tips. Another thing that definitely helps me succeed is making flashcards. I don’t get a lot of sleep sometimes because I go to work and I study so I don’t get enough time to sleep every night, but usually I don’t sleep less than eight hours which it’s good because I get to rest a little bit and do good on my test.

  25. The 9 best scientific study tips.
I watched the video and I don't agree with the statement that higlighing your book and reread notes are inefficient. That technique had helped me throughtout my entire school life and made learining much easier and clean. Highlighting and notes complemented with index cards had been a successful combination for my study techniques.Other that than, I agree with everything stated on the video ; especially, I highly agree with eliminating distractions whenever you can, like smarthphones and background noise ( music , tv ). I've been applying that technique for years and it made me focus better when I'm studying.

    1. It’s great that you already know what works for you even if it differs from a majority of other people. I partially agree with what they said regarding highlighting and rereading since it has been beneficial for me with certain subjects but not all subjects. I feel that it is just one of those things that varies on a case by case basis. As you have mentioned with flashcards, I find them to be highly effective especially on the go and the repetition is helpful and you can control how you wish to repeat the cards you are still unsure of. I don’t think that this video was entirely accurate for every person but maybe for a majority since everyone is different. I look forward to trying one or two of the new methods I learned from the video and hope you do the same.

    2. It is good that you are using critical thinking when watching these videos. I also think that highlighting is good. However, if students just highlight, it is not enough. It is important to review what is highlighted and using flash cards to do this is a powerful technique. Good job!

  26. I found these tips very useful, I feel more motivated for my second year. I have practiced some of these tips throughout these semesters of the year, it works because I started using the techniques in this article and I managed to complete my major in college with good results. I actually managed to sleep 8 hours a night and I still find these helpful especially with exams and try to not do multitasking because it makes it less productive and more distracted. So I encourage anyone to sleep enough of priority and Simplify, summarize, and compress the information. Take notes by hand, instead of using your laptop. Write down your worries and test yourself frequently. Take regular study breaks…It will help a lot.

  27. The video I chose to view was “The Nine Best Scientific Study Tips”, I found the video to be very helpful yet concise. I’m familiar with breaking study sessions into smaller gaps of time and spreading them out over extended periods of time. When I was a freshmen I believed that longer study sessions and cramming was the way to go until a friend told me to study in smaller sessions and only focus on one or two goals of material to learn. I found this tip to be the most beneficial as it was the most realistic and proven to be beneficial with my grades. One other tip from the video I found to be helpful was if you are preparing yourself to teach material you develop a better understanding since your brain organizes the material differently than if you just want to memorize it. The short duration of this video was very helpful since it was direct and to the point with little to no filler to make the video seem longer or more educational.

    1. Richard, I totally agree with you input. In the beginning of my college career, I had the studying habit of cramming things last minute and reviewing as much as I can right before the exam. I thought that by doing that, I will retain the information fresh on exam day. Well I was wrong and I learned my lesson. It took me a couple semesters to realize the mistake I was making. I learned this mew studying habit when I took anatomy. This rigorous class made it extremely impossible for me to try to even think about cramming information before an exam. I had to study ahead of lecture and before you know it a million other terms and lectures stack up to study. All of it had to be broken up in sections to study or else I would be set up for failure. I tried that method and it helped a lot with retaining information easier.

    2. Hi Richard,

I also watched this video and I agree that its helpful yet concise. Learning a good study strategy and technique is detrimental to having a successful college education. By chunking or grouping material into smaller amount definitely helps elevate some of the stress, especially if you're working on a big project. I have found it helpful to study in small groups of students or going to a short tutoring session. In addition, I also believed it was interesting that the brain organizes information differently when you're preparing to teach the material. It makes sense to me, how the brain would automatically try to organize the material and only focus on the key points. Great job elaborating on the video.

      Take Care,
      Kaley

  28. The video that I watched was "Sleep to remember, Remember to sleep". Watching this video made me realize how important it is to sleep. I did not know that after studying or playing a scale it is good to sleep three hours after studying or one hour after playing a scale. The reason being it takes three hours from short term memory get to long term memory. Having a busy life as a mom, wife and a fulltime student it is hard for me to get a full nights rest. After watching this video and seeing it can affect my long term memory I will be getting my full night of sleep from now on. Having proper sleep will make me have a new and improved brain that will get me ready for any challenges to come. So now sleep will be one of my priorities.

  29. Hello,
I chose the video that called sleep to remember, remember to sleep
I have seen that sleeping is not only important when it comes to study, it is part that we can't live without. Sleeping is so important to remember what we study so we can rest our brain and give it the time to remember what we can't remember. We used to study the whole day and night when we were in Iraq and that wasn't good because since we get to the test, we forget everything and be afraid of not doing well. Giving at least 6 to 8 hours for the brain to rest is worth it to be more productive.

  30. After viewing Sleep to Remember, Remember to Sleep, I found very useful information about the importance of sleep and the effects it has on your brain. I found this video useful because I lack a good sleeping schedule. Finding out that sleep helps restructure our brains made me find the importance in having a good nights sleep. I also liked how the video explained the different stages of sleep and the way it is linked to our brain function. The most useful piece of information in the video was when it said to go to sleep 3 hours after memorizing formulas to help you remember what you learned. After watching this video, I will certainly try to sleep better.

    1. Hello Cynthia,
I agree with what you said, sleeping is so important and I don't know why we don't care about sleeping and we only care about Facebooking and spending time on things that are not helpful while our brain that needs to rest, we don't take care of. I found it so important also to sleep even though I can't sleep more than 5 hours, but I will try to lay down or try to sleep at the afternoon. The video gave us a lot of information that we might not think about till we know what is their importance on our lives.

  31. I watched the video about getting enough sleep. I thought this video was really insightful because being young, busy college students, often time we really do think drinking that last cup of coffee at 1am and cramming even more will help with the test the next day and that we really don't need the sleep. This video showed on a biological level why it is imperative to our entire body's health and especially memory, that we get a full nights rest every day, even when we may be tempted to stay up all night studying netflix.

    1. Good summary of the sleep video. I think most college students think that staying up all night studying is a good idea, but the brain does not work well without sleep. Good job!

    2. Before this class I never knew that it was better for you to make sure you're well rested before an exam instead of cramming for it. I am always known to be up all night before an exam and I am working on spacing out my studies more and making sure to focus on memorizing small parts at a time. Then, the night before an exam I will make sure to rest eight hours.

  32. I watched the video that deals with sleep. I found this video interesting because it mentioned parts of the brain that I learned in psychology, anatomy, and physiology. One example that was mentioned was the hippocampus. The hippocampus helps in memory consolidations. It is a big part in us humans being able to take things from short terms memory and transfer them to long term memory. I also liked the factors that deal with helping memory, which is our sleep. Sleep is important for our memory retentions and there are different stages of sleep that are in control of our memories. Sleeping shortly after practicing and studying would be ideal to remembering information the next day as long as a person gets the proper amount of sleep.

  33. Study tips
The most important tip is to create a schedule and put a time in your phone; even if we forgot to study the phone will remind us.
The second tip is to set in chair instead of lying on the bed, so setting on a chair make us more a wake and pay attention to the subject, if we lay on the bed we will fall to sleep.
The third tip that will help us motivate is to put are goal in front of us to remember that we have to work very hard to accomplish our goal.

  35. I chose to watch the video on the Nine Best Scientific Study Skills. This video shows very direct dos and don’ts on successful studying. At the very end of the video it concludes with the most basic one of putting your phone away, like that’s a no brainer. However, in today’s age everyone is acclimated to have their phone attached at all times to respond to a text or social media. I liked that they put this in there even though its an obvious step, when I began college I would literally deactivate my social media accounts during the school semester because I found myself always wanting to check it on the computer or my phone. Eventually, I encountered that it’s actually nice not being a slave to social media and entirely got rid of all social media accounts. It’s a refreshing feeling and helps me remain focused when its time to study.

  36. The video I watched was "Study Hacks! Get Better Grades 2015". The girl's first tip was to use quizlet and even though I think its a great tip it is already one I use myself for my Financial Accounting class. However, her second idea to put your to-do list in a jar and pick from it is one I've never heard before. I love it! It's a great idea, especially for a procrastinator like me. I've heard her idea to put pieces of chocolates every couple of paragraphs to reward yourself before. I know it works for many people, but I'm not a fan of this method for myself.

  39. I chose the video sleep to remember, remember to sleep. I thought sleeping is so important so I chose this video. It showed me that if we don’t get enough sleep we can not function right and we won't be able to focus all day. Sleep will make a human more creative and also more active. It helps all of our body to be a better body and do our activities with more power. If someone stays without sleep for a certain time there is a chance they die. That's how important sleep it!
A human must at least sleep 6 hours a day and it is even better if it is 8 but yet, a lot of sleeping is bad too!

  40. I watched the Remember to Sleep video. I learned a lot in this video about the importance of sleep and why is it necessary for a healthy lifestyle. When we sleep are body regulates all kinds of of stuff in our body. Getting enough sleep is very important for next day success is everyday. A lack of sleep can not only keep you tired and stressed but it can also make you forget things you can practiced or tried to remember from the pervious day. Sleep is extremely important.

  41. I watched the Remember to Sleep video. When i watched this video i immediately was reminded of my psychology class because we learned a lot about what happens to someone psychologically when they sleep or do not get enough sleep. This video was interesting and reminded me about the effects that occur when someone is not getting enough sleep. For me this video was interesting mostly because i am one of those students who barely sleeps and always has a messed up sleeping schedule. It is important to get a certain amount of sleep a day such as six to eight hours a day or night.
